Last year, New Jersey residents placed over two million emergency calls
to 9-1-1 using wireless phones. However, wireless phones don't automatically
provide 9-1-1 operators with all of the necessary information.
When calling 9-1-1 for assistance using a wireless phone, wireless
users must give the operator the following information:
- The exact location of the emergency,
- Type of emergency,
- Who is involved in the emergency, and
- A phone number where they can be reached.
If driving, please pull over to a safe place and then make the call.
By following the above instructions, 9-1-1 operators can better respond
to roadside emergencies and life-threatening accidents.
