NJ LEEP Intern Program
The New Jersey Legal and Education Empowerment Project helps youth from underserved neighborhoods in northern New Jersey to achieve high level academic performance through skill building and other programs to develop the skills and behaviors necessary for lasting success and community leadership. Diversity Training Program
Diversity training is a fundamental component of Horizon BCBSNJ’s diversity initiative. This training increases employee awareness of workplace diversity and expands employees' knowledge and competence so that they may work effectively in a multicultural environment. Reverse Mentoring Program
This program enables high-potential minority employees to mentor the company’s top executives on the perspectives and challenges of individuals from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds. It also affords high-potential minority employees the opportunity to engage in constructive discussions with senior management. Diversity Component of Operational Excellence
This program recognizes outstanding employees who exemplify the company’s core competencies and who produce positive business results. Select core competencies have a diversity component where employees are recognized for promoting diversity, proactively educating others on diversity and living up to the spirit of inclusion within Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Officer Sponsorship of Affinity Groups
This program is designed to recognize the diverse concerns and perspectives of our Affinity Groups, while senior executives champion and act as executive advisors in support of each group’s initiatives. The Affinity Groups include:

INROADS Intern Program
This program recruits and maintains outstanding ethnically diverse college students for corporate and community leadership. Cristo Rey Network Program
This work/study program enables Cristo Rey Network students to intern at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. The Cristo Rey Network establishes and supports small Catholic high schools that serve economically disadvantaged urban youth. Leadership Rotational Development Program
This program, comprised primarily of women and minorities, provides an excellent leadership opportunity within Horizon BCBSNJ for recent college graduates. The program’s objective is to develop effective supervisors/managers and pave the way for their successful transition into key leadership roles within the organization. Supervisor Candidate Development Program
This program is designed to facilitate the achievement of affirmative action goals for minorities and others in the supervisor job pool. Participants are selected from high performers who, in addition to their performance ratings, have supervisor aptitude, work experience and the necessary education. American Health Insurance Plan – Minority Management Development Program (AHIP-MMD)
This program is designed to prepare qualified, ethnically diverse health insurance plan employees for a future in health care through hands-on learning within the company. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey employees have been selected to participate on a consistent basis. Supplier Management Program
