The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services has designated several participating hospitals as Children’s Hospitals. Each hospital provides complete pediatric physician specialty services, including pediatric emergency and intensive care services.

The hospitals recognized by Horizon BCBSNJ’s 2005 Regional Programs of Quality for specialty pediatric services are:

• Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center
• Hackensack University Medical Center
• Jersey City Medical Center
• Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
• Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
• Saint Peter's University Hospital

In addition, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), a participating hospital with Horizon BCBSNJ, has been consistently recognized by national sources as the top pediatric hospital in the country.

These participating hospitals may best fit members' health care needs when coordinating specialty pediatric services.
