Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) is the state's oldest and largest health insurer, serving more than 3.6 million members. Since 1932, we have been offering quality and affordable health and dental insurance products and services for individuals, families and businesses.

But our company is much more than insurance. We were founded on a tradition of caring for others and, 77 years later, that principle still drives us. All over New Jersey, our company, employees and The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey give back by supporting charitable organizations that share our goal of improving the quality of life for residents and communities throughout the state.

2008 was a noteworthy year for our charitable giving. Our foundation and company made 327 grants, sponsorships and contributions. We invested over $10 million in New Jersey communities, the largest one-year amount in our history.

In this report, you will learn about the many initiatives, projects, events and causes our charitable giving-dollars, time and talent-supported. All over New Jersey, we helped children stay healthy, expanded access to health care and made arts and culture available for everyone.
