Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Sponsors the Second Annual Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) is pleased to announce that it is a Silver Sponsor of the Second Annual Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure. The event will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. Proceeds from the race will support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Award and Research Grant program. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised from the race stay in New Jersey and support the North Jersey Affiliate’s mission of providing education, screening, and treatment programs to thousands of underserved women with little or no health insurance. “Since 1982, when the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization first opened its doors, they have been fighting to find a cure for breast cancer,” said Larry Altman, Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications, Horizon BCBSNJ. “By supporting great events like the Race for the Cure, we reaffirm our company’s commitment to women’s health and wellness. We encourage all who can join in this event to do so and assist this great cause.” During the event, attendees can visit the Horizon BCBSNJ display and receive literature on various health related issues. In addition, the Horizon BCBSNJ Care-A-Van will be onsite and will offer free health screenings.
