Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Sponsors the 16th Annual Race For The Cure

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, which is why Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 16th Annual Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey Race For The Cure.The race is the largest of its kind in New Jersey, and is the State’s premier event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer detection, research and treatment. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 4 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson. Proceeds from the race will support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Award and Research Grant program. 75% of the funds raised will stay in New Jersey and help pay for mammograms for those in need and support educational programs related to breast cancer awareness. The remaining funds will go to the organization’s national office for research programs to find a cure for breast cancer. Horizon BCBSNJ has a robust educational program designed to heighten member awareness on the importance of early breast cancer detection by way of regular mammogram screenings. Our preventive health initiatives also use mailings and personal phone calls to remind members of the importance of mammograms and other life saving health screenings.
