Su Salud Primero/Your Health First was made possible by a $100,000 grant from The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey (Foundation) to The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. The documentary was produced by New Jersey Network (NJN) television and originally aired on the network on November 13, 2008. 

“We are all thrilled that Su Salud Primero/Your Health First was awarded a Mid-Atlantic Emmy,” said Larry Altman, Executive Director of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey.  “The Emmy is a testament to the work done by NJN’s talented production team; and the vision of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey for making this important documentary possible.  We hope that everyone who watches learns a great deal about the unique health challenges facing New Jersey’s Latino community.”

“This Emmy award-winning documentary will be seen on public television stations across the country this Fall. NJN wishes to thank The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey and The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for allowing NJN to produce important programs like Su Salud Primero/Your Health First,” said Janice Selinger, Acting Chief Operating Officer, NJN.    

 “Su Salud Primero/Your Health First was hosted by John Quinones from WABC television.  Promotion of the program included a robust bi-lingual web site and educational flyers that were distributed at Hispanic community events throughout New Jersey.  Producer/Director Willie Sanchez and Hispanic Youth Showcase contestants also reached thousands of individuals by displaying a Su Salud Primero/Your Health First banner at parades and other events,” continued Selinger.
